Assuming a printing speed of 300 pages per month, the average printing cost of each monochrome print is 1 cent, and each color print is 5 cents. 

The mixed tank and ink cartridge design of the machine provides the cost-saving utility of a tank printer and the convenience of replaceable ink cartridges; users do not need to refill the printer with bottles, only use standard ink cartridges. According to Akshay Reddy, Manager of IndustryARC, “As consumers pay more and more attention to the environmental impact of their purchases, the environmental issues of ink cartridges will become the main driving factor for the adoption of refillable can printers. If you are looking for an affordable wireless black and white printer in the market, then Brother MFC-L2750DW XL is your best choice, it can meet all your work needs. This laser printer is equipped with two years of toner, assuming a printing speed of approximately 300 pages per month, and provides a first-class claimed printing speed of up to 36 ppm. In addition, the model claims that the print output is about 3,000 pages, and each print cost is 2 cents. Brother's toner recycling program is also a nice bonus: it allows users to safely recycle used ink cartridges using Brother's pre-printed shipping labels.

This printer spares no effort to provide all-in-one functions: it includes a single 50-page ADF tray, automatic duplex printing and scanning, multi-page copying, as well as printing and scanning functions from Microsoft Office suite, Google Drive, Dropbox and others Cloud services and Wi-Fi-enabled devices.

Creative professionals who rely on commercial photo printing services may want to consider investing in Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000. Its outstanding print quality is attributed to features such as a minimum droplet size of 4 picoliters (pl) and the resulting maximum image resolution of 2,400 × 1,200 dots per inch (dpi). Print quality and desktop design make this photo printer one of the best choices for state-of-the-art printing. It can print a 17 x 22 inch print in 4 minutes and 10 seconds, and print a 13 x 19 inch bordered photo in 2 minutes and 30 seconds. The vacuum paper feed system also helps to safely feed the paper into the printer, and the LCD panel allows final adjustments with convenient color calibration tools. 

The wireless function of this printer was also designed with creative professionals in mind. Like many other photo printers, this Canon supports AirPrint, but it can also be used with Wireless PictBridge, PIXMA Cloud Link, Pro Gallery Print, and Canon printing applications. The only potential disadvantages are the price and the fact that you cannot use roll paper in this machine.

The Canon PIXMA iP8720 is great value for money and can print in full color on a variety of surfaces, including ultra-gloss paper, glossy paper, matte paper, matte paper, No. 10 envelopes, and even CDs and DVDs. In addition, you can also use it to print normal documents and wide-format prints (up to 13 x 19 inches).

Although it is marked with a high price, it is no different from other printers that provide similar functions, and because of the environmentally friendly water tank design, the operating cost is also reasonable. The cartridgeless ink system (available in four colors) uses internal ink tanks and ink bottles instead of ink cartridges, which means you can spend longer between refills and pay less. There is enough ink in the box of this printer to print about 6,000 color photos and 7,500 black and white photos.

The HP OfficeJet 250 is a great choice for remote workers with limited office space, because you can easily put it away when not in use. It is also very suitable for people working in areas where reliable power is not available, as it can run entirely on the rechargeable battery pack (included). If you have a PC or Android device, you can connect to the printer via USB (with two USB ports) or Wi-Fi, using AirPrint for Mac or HP ePrint. 

This printer weighs only 6.5 pounds, and contains amazing features in its small package: 15 × 7.8 × 3.6 inches. In the case of full utilization, the maximum size of 15 × 15.8 × 10.6 inches is still very moderate compared to other similar printers. Although it is not a traditional all-in-one machine, the printer does provide mobile printing, scanning, copying, and a 50-page ADF. The scan quality of basic text documents is good, and the claimed printing speed is acceptable, with a black and white printing speed of 10 ppm and a color printing speed of 7 ppm. However, it is important to remember that the main selling point of this printer is its portability.

If your budget is tight, check out Brother MFC-J491DW. When it comes to long-term costs, you only need to worry about ink cartridge refills. Each high-yield ink cartridge also claims a printing speed of approximately 400 pages.

You can connect to this all-in-one wirelessly (using AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Mopria or Brother iPrint & Scan) or via USB to achieve convenient printing, copying, scanning and faxing functions. You can also scan directly from this printer to Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive. Most printers in this price range cannot print or scan from many different services, but this affordable option can do just that and more. Other features of this printer include automatic duplex printing, automatic document feeding, 100-sheet paper tray, and the recommended maximum monthly print volume of 1,000 copies.

Brother MFC-J995DW (check it out on Amazon) will provide good services to most small businesses and home offices. Over time, the hybrid tank and ink cartridge design can provide environmentally friendly practicality and cost savings. The speed and versatility of the printer make it an ideal choice for serving multiple remote workers, students, and family members. 

First, you need to calculate the approximate cost per page for black and white printing and color printing. Calculating this cost is easy for black and white prints, but more difficult for color prints and photographs or artistic prints. Whether to include the cost of paper in these calculations is up to you. 

Then, you need to multiply these print costs by the number of each print type you create in a year. The resulting figure is your annual printing cost, not including the cost of the printer. After that, you need to make some guesses about the life of the printer. If you assume that the service life of the printer is 5 years, and the cost of the printer is $500, then your annual printing cost should increase by $100. Basic division does this, but keep in mind that these are all approximations. It is impossible to predict how long the printer will be used, or how many pieces you will print, but this method should provide you with a good idea for budgeting.

If you search on the Internet, you will find third-party inks and toners that promise to fit all types of printers—the prices of such toners are usually lower than brand printer toners. We recommend that you buy ink and toner produced by the same manufacturer (or recommended by the manufacturer) as your printer for several reasons. The first is quality assurance. 

In terms of quality and output, third-party ink cartridges are everywhere. There is usually no recourse for inferior ink cartridges from third-party companies, so lower price tags are accompanied by higher risks. In addition, some printer companies (such as HP) intentionally make their printers incompatible with third-party toners. Therefore, you'd better choose a printer that can run with the recommended ink.

The all-in-one printer has printing, scanning, copying and faxing functions. Some printers labeled "All-in-one" cannot complete all four tasks. Remember that fax is the most frequently excluded feature of printers advertised as "all-in-ones." Despite increasing abandonment of faxes to support secure scanning, the trend of marketing printers as "all-in-ones" is likely to continue.
