Author: Andy Slawetsky – On September 27, Konica Minolta issued a statement regarding an explosion and fire at its Tatsuno consumables factory in Japan.

According to the statement, “the supply of toner for office products is still continuing so that customers can continue printing. Regarding toner for on-demand digital printing systems, we are trying to recover at an early stage, including the use of alternative toners...”

When asked about the situation of American customers, Kay Fernandez, vice president of Konica Minolta's global DX brand and senior vice president of marketing, said:

"We are very grateful that the explosion at the Konica Minolta consumables manufacturing plant did not cause any casualties.

Toner supply depends largely on global inventories, so the supply impact in different regions will be different. We have been in close contact with the dealer community.

The entire executive team of Konica Minolta is committed to taking continuous action to minimize the impact on our dealers and customers. Providing service and support to our dealer community is one of our top priorities. "
